چکیده

In string theory and in topological quantum field theory one encounters operators whose effect in correlation functions is simply to measure the topology of 2d spacetime. In particular these 'dilation'-type operators count the number of other operators via contact terms with the latter. While contact terms in general have a reputation for being convention-dependent, the ones considered here are perfectly well-defined by virtue of their simple geometrical meaning: They reflect the geometry of the stable-curve compactification. We give an unambiguous prescription for their evaluation which involves no analytic continuation in momenta. We discuss the properties of genus-0 correlation functions of a topological minimal model (the model Ak+1) coupled to 2d topological gravity. The action of the twisted minimal model is perturbed by non-trivial couplings to gravitational descendants, which, in turn, are constructed entirely from the fields in the matter sector of the theory. We develop an explicit formulation, in terms of orthog...

The Coupling of Chern-Simons Theory to Topological Gravity

We couple Chern-Simons gauge theory to 3-dimensional topological gravity with the aim of investigating its quantum topological invariance. We derive the relevant BRST rules and Batalin-Vilkovisky action. Standard BRST transformations of the gauge field are modified by terms involving both its anti-field and the super-ghost of topological gravity. Beyond the obvious couplings to the metric and t...

Gribov problem, contact terms and Čech-De Rham cohomology in 2D topological gravity

ABSTRACT We point out that averages of equivariant observables of 2D topological gravity are not globally defined forms on moduli space, when one uses the functional measure corresponding to the formulation of the theory as a 2D superconformal model. This is shown to be a consequence of the existence of the Gribov horizon and of the dependence of the observables on derivatives of the super-ghos...

Type B Topological Matter , Kodaira - Spencer Theory , and Mirror Symmetry

Perturbing usual type B topological matter with vector (0, 1)-forms we find a topological theory which contains explicitly Kodaira-Spencer deformation theory. It is shown that, in genus zero, three-point correlation functions give the Yukawa couplings for a generic point in the moduli space of complex structures. This generalization of type B topological matter seems to be the correct framework...

baryon-baryon interactions using chiral effective field theory

We derive the leading order strangeness S = −2 baryon-baryon interactions in chiral effective field theory. The potential consists of contact terms without derivatives and of one-pseudoscalar-meson exchanges. The contact terms and the couplings of the pseudoscalar mesons to the baryons are related via SU(3)f symmetry to the S = −1 hyperonnucleon channels. We show that the chiral effective field...
